Owning wool producing animals is fun, but can you make money from home with sheep, alpaca, or other fiber animals? Yes, you can. Turn your wool fiber into cash five different ways.

#1. Sell your raw wool. With good marketing strategies, your clean, carded, and maybe even dyed fleece will start producing money. Who would buy it? Felters and spinners. Make sure your fiber is in perfect condition with little to no vegetable matter. Build a good reputation for offering excellent fleece and those crafters will be faithful return customers clammoring for your animals’ fiber.

#2. Offer handmade products from your wool. Learn to spin and make specialty yarns to sell. Knitting with wool yarn and felting the project is very popular today. You can capitalize on this trend with your animal fleece. Sell your yarn and give away an easy free handbag pattern with felting instructions for knitters to try their first felting project with the yarn.

Lean to knit and crochet. You can make handmade sweaters, vests, hats, scarfs, etc. Find a niche market and sell your handmade items to people who would truly enjoy owning them.

#5. Kits are popular with the do-it-yourselfers. Make up a kit from your wool fiber. Instructions, wool, and felting needles are all that you need in a kit to get someone started on needle felting.
